Inter-Micronational Chess Federation: The Burnham Open 2014
The Inter-Micronational Chess Federation (IMCF) is the first organisation that caters to the running of intermicronational chess games. While many intermicronational organisations may pride themselves on the playing of virtual games through a third party, the IMCF uses the popular chess website, to enable competitors to play the sport of kings head-to-head.
Your nation can form a national chess squad, which can be registered with the IMCF, so that all of its games (be they in a tournament, played between squad members, or between international squads) can be recorded with the IMCF elo-ratings.

In 2014, from March 31st to May 11th, the IMCF will be hosting an Open Tournament, sponsored by the Regional Dominion of Burnham. The Burnham Open will be using a six round Swiss System, with the possibility of increasing the number of rounds should there be more participants than expected. The IMCF elo-rating system will be used to calculate points and winners.

It must also be said that, while not confirmed, the possibilities of a cash prize of 50 euros (£40) for the winner and an actual macronational sponsorship are on the cards. The IMCF has in the past been able to provide wonderful rewards for winners of it's tournaments, such as a game against chess International Master Mateusz Kolosowski. There is no limit to the number of participants in the Burnham Open.

So form a squad! Get yourself involved, and take part in one of the most important Micronational sports events of the coming year!

For further information, please contact, or go to the IMCF Facebook page at, where we will keep you in the loop.

Richard Cunningham, Basileus of the Theodorist Regional Dominion of Burnham and its Land, and IMCF member.
