War
#1
I know "War, what is it good for. Absolutely nothing." But what is I feel I need to declare war?

Wars are generally a very good thing. Do not listen to these pacifists, who cannot truly sympathize with your plight or understand your motivations for conflict.

I'm no pacifist. Just look at the history of Hodiny on its wikipage. What is your reasoning for wars being good? You are aware of how many people get hurt in wars, correct?

What about armed neutrality or a perceptual state of defense/war?

Armed Neutrality is absurd, such as a current example is the De-Militarized Zone that divides South and North Korea. Cold Wars (or Armed Neutrality) is a waste of money and time, it just makes countries go bankrupt and the same is for a perpetual state of conflict/war.  If any war should come it should be for the safety and defense of your country and for fighting for the rights of mankind.

But due to the recent state of affairs in my parent country and my hometown I think it is necessary to be constantly prepared for anything.

That is Malarkey Markus, Diplomacy should come before war. War should always be a last and final option. Also Tomorrow, Smithville's Ministry of Defence will officially come into existence. Wars will drain resources such as a Nation's Money, materials, man power, etc. So Markus' ideas on war being a good thing is Malarkey.

There is much to be said about the negative aspects of war: destruction and misery... and general pointlessness. But there are a few positives that arise from the wars of the past, including medical & scientific breakthroughs, as well as social and democratic changes (such as women obtaining the vote post First World War in Britain, and the rise of the NHS after the Second World War).

But in terms of micronations perhaps war offers a chance for a slice of glory. Something to be cheered for. Plus, successful wars can generally unite the people. I'm thinking of Native Americans when they tested the nerves of one another (counting coup) and earned reputations through wars with other tribes.

As for Iffonia - we don't have a military yet! So a war would be self-defeating. But wars could also take on various other forms that could bring about a greater sense of union, such as a Cold War, or economic war.
