The Legacy Press
#1
Since the original "News from Suzukia" thread was from three years ago (dang!), and my last post from there I believe was a year ago, I've decided to create a brand new news thread for my micronational projects. My micronation, being that it has gone through several renamings over the last 14 and a half years,  is generally referred to as the Drew Star Line Legacy, DSL Legacy, or simply The Legacy. This is an ode to the original name for the country: Drew Star Line. As such I feel The Legacy Press is a fitting name.

So, that aside, what has been going on in The Legacy?

Well, a few projects are underway for the main micronation. Two parallel plans are currently under study for colonization attempts between 2030 and 2035, with a final decision to be made on our 15th anniversary: 13 September 2020.

The Lego-based micro Sunþrawegaz is still around, but due to the reality of life for several of the project's designers, it remains somewhat ephemeral, and we've had to cancel several planned exhibitions of our work. Much of its historiography is being transferred over to my planned Micras "second world" of Cytherea, which I am currently working on a map for and should be available for use by the MCA community this summer.

San Dover is also still around. It's sort of a cultish, preparedness society now. Not really a micronation anymore. I tend not to discuss its inner workings in the community these days.

One thing I am excited about is the Neo-Bronze Society. It's a small community for those who love Bronze Age, Stone Age, or early Iron Age stuff. Essentially, if it was before Christ, it's worth the NBS's time. Forging and metallurgy is a primary concern for many, but we also cover history, literature, artwork, religion, government, and even cuisine. We have a Discord server, and if you're interested in joining, follow this link here. You do not need to be a micronationalist to join, and this is not an organization.

My personal rocket enthusiast club, Project Red Lightning, is preparing to become a full on aerospace company. This was planned to be accomplished by the end of the year, given that we believed back in January we would have the funding to have prototyped several rocket parts to gain financial backing for the full-up designs. But the virus has postponed these plans until further notice. Had this not happened, we were expecting to have our first orbital launch attempt of the R-1 Maia rocket in October 2028. This rocket was initially approved in early 2019, and spent the rest of the year in computer simulations and redesigns. What began as a 72-foot tall rocket with only 30,000 pounds of thrust ended up becoming a 100-footer with 192,000 pounds of thrust. And that's just the low-powered base model!

Swinging back to micronational news, the Kermadec Union was officially reorganized. Due to the legal precedent of its charter, it turns out we did not have the proper conditions to close down the KU in an official capacity in 2017, and so it still de jure existed for the past three years. After several failed restarts, I decided to take it upon myself and reform the KU as a confederation, which really wasn't that hard. I call it the Confederation of Aspiring Microstates, and a couple of weeks ago its charter was posted on the Discord for potential new members to peruse. However, there has been so much drama on the Discord side of the community that what was supposed to be a glorious return of one of the community's most notable intermicronational organizations got lost in the muddle. Its charter is provided below if anyone is interested in reading it, and of course feel free to ask questions about it here or in a private message (or do so about any other topic I brought up, for that matter).

Been a little bit since the last reply, so I figure I'll make another one.

The main micronation has completed its feasibility study for the two colonization contenders, and I am now at the phase of making a decision. This will probably be announced before the planned 15th anniversary, but we'll see how it plays out. My former vice president and friend for 18 years, Leslie Thompson, has returned to the micronation, a major moral booster.

Oh, and in case you were wondering, the main micronation doesn't have an official name currently. For now it's just DSL or Legacy as unofficial terms. An official one will be decided upon in conjunction with the territory decision.

San Dover and Sunþrawegaz is still existing in the shadows. Don't worry about them too much.

The Cytherea map for the MCA has been temporarily paused while I work on the X4 color scheme, whose progress you can view HERE.

PRL's research and development has also been put on hold, mainly due to the quarantine. The launch schedule should be alright, still looking at an October 2028 launch for the R-1, but we're prepared to have to push that first blast-off into 2029 if necessary.

I will be returning to the MicroRamble podcast with co-hosts Charles Ross and Thomas Bainbright sometime next week. We'll be talking about YAMOs and a small eulogy will be given for our lost friend and fellow micronationalist, Nicholas Randouler, who created the podcast with Charles and me.

Lastly, the CAM, after a couple of months of simply going nowhere, is looking like it's on a fast track to Now-Town. In just a few short hours, the KU's successor has managed to gain the attention of several high-end micronationalists. We'll see where these developments take the CAM, but I do have a very good feeling about it all. If you're interested in the CAM, check out our charter at the end of the above post.

As the Discord server is just too poisonous for me to be around these days, I'll be keeping all new information regarding my micronational projects here. It is nice to see Shamus is still around, he's one of the best dudes I've ever gotten to know in this place.

So, since it's been since June since I've posted anything, I have some big news: I am no longer the leader of Drew Star Line. The new Grand Protector is Leslie Blake, a citizen from near the beginning in 2005 and my Vice President from 2011 to 2013. I am still leader of San Dover, although I'm taking a small break and the Leōcor pro-tempore is now Minnie Arcady, and this is where most of my posts will be focused on from here on out.

So, to kick things off, I suppose it is prudent to discuss San Dover. What it is and what it isn't.

Name and Status

San Dover's full long name is the Sovereign San Doverian Order for the Preservation of Human Culture and Historiography. Because of this long name, San Dover, the Sovereign Order, and the SSDO are all appropriate short names. San Dover, when translated from its root derivatives of Spanish and Celtic, means holy water, and illustrates another aspect of the organization that we consider integral to its foundation, which shall be discussed more below. Due San Dover's odd role in the world, it seems very unlikely that it would qualify as a micronation in the broad sense of the word, but given its origins as a spin off from Drew Star Line and its ongoing associations with micronations around the world for the purposes of its mission, I feel alright with posting such things here. I do not refer to San Dover as a micronation, but I do not see any other definition to describe it either, so begins the stalemate of the definitions.

Purpose

As one could probably surmise from the full long name of San Dover, the purpose of this entity is to preserve items that are important to the cultural history of our species, specifically in the event of a partial or full societal collapse. While much of this work is to be done after the fact, many steps are being made in the present day to ensure San Dover can complete its mission when the time comes. This includes setting up a network of allies around the world to help collect important artifacts for trade at a later date, and the designing and constructing of vehicles to give those within the Sovereign Order as much mobility as possible after The Fall (as we term any such societal collapse). These items, once collected, shall be stored in a remote, unmarked location, which should only be found when humanity has regained a level of industrial civilization equal or greater to that which we have now. As well, many totems will be erected around the world after The Fall explaining what happened to humanity, as a warning to all future civilizations which may arise.

It is important to note that San Dover is more than just preserving what was, it's also about insuring that our species has a future after The Fall, and any such societal collapse is as brief as possible. It is our general belief that The Fall is inevitable, given many, many factors that plague our modern world. It's a course we can no longer hope to change, but it is possible that through proper education of the generations after the event we can ensure that a thousand years from now people will take better care of themselves and their planet. So, San Dover shall serve to educate, and not only educate, to try to maintain some form of modern civilization elsewhere in the world, unmarred by the destructive forces that would seek to bring down everything else. This particular side of San Dover is called Project Acheron, and while still in the development phase, several lengthy reports adding up to around 900 pages have already been drafted, and more information may be released on this matter on a later date.

Religion

Perhaps nothing can really define why we are fighting to preserve humanity more than the faith behind the movement. San Dover is a religious Order, and we worship essentially three beings. Mai and Nuvay are the personification of time and space, and together as Mai'Nuvay form the space-time continuum. They are formless beings whose union is responsible for causality, or in layman's terms: fate. Because of causality we can be certain that everything that ever happened was meant to happen, and everything that will happen was always meant to happen as well. Past, present and future is predetermined. Knowing the future, however, is important, as is analyzing the past. In ancient times humans recorded the passage of time with the movement of the Moon across the sky, and those in San Dover do the same. We follow the moon goddess Neneveh, Mai'Nuvay in humanoid form. She is a goddess of water, of wisdom, and those who seek to know their fates consult her. It was through walking through dreams, both while asleep and awake, that I came to find that I was destined to form San Dover. While few have the gifts of hearing Neneveh, at least two others in San Dover have confided in me that they have been visited by her in dreams as well, validating what I long believed to be some sort of madness as a true purpose. I believe Mai'Nuvay does take many other forms, such as the sun, but the Neneveh form is most prominent to us. It makes sense, after all. The interwoven strings of time and space are what ensure that the Moon, and the Earth, and you and me, exist.

So, while San Dover is approaching its general goal, I am still in the midst of nailing my personal down, and that goal is, as always, Raoul Island. This land is my obsession, and Neneveh willing I shall conquer it soon.
